Kinect is a motion sensing input device which is shipped with the Xbox One, used in Dead Rising 3. The Kinect is based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox One without the need to touch a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands. Kinect competes with the Wii Remote Plus and PlayStation Move.[1]
With the Kinect, zombies are able to hear players. To call a zombie or distract a zombie, the player just yells at the Kinect and the zombies respond to the player.[2]
With survivors, the Kinect in Dead Rising 3 will detect the player's finger pointing which evokes a cursor in the game and the player can just say "attack" instead of multiple button inputs.[3]
